You may have been to Switzerland, but you haven’t seen THIS Switzerland.
Ready for an escape from typical touring? Get away to a truly idyllic setting unknown to most tourists in the picture-perfect Swiss Alps. Our lodging for the week is in Wengen, a car-free village located at the base of the Eiger, Monche, & Jungfrau peaks. Wengen is one of the most beautiful places on earth! You will be given a Berner Oberland Pass allowing you to travel throughout the entire region by all modes of transport. Each day of this huband- spoke tour is filled with guided day trips that encompass amazing diversity at a leisurely pace, followed by elegant dining at our hotel each evening.
Day 1 Fly to Zurich
Depart today for Zurich, Switzerland. Get
your camera ready for some spectacular scenery.
Day 2 Lauterbrunnen / Wengen (D)
Upon arrival in Zurich, board our coach and
travel through the rolling Swiss landscape past
sparkling lakes up into the massive Swiss Alps.
The scenery is increasingly spectacular as you
arrive in Lauterbrunnen, with its towering
cliffs. Transfer by cog rail to the enchanting
village of Wengen, your home for 6 nights.
Day 3 Interlaken / Lake Cruise (B, D)
Enjoy a day trip to Interlaken (the land between
the lakes) with its mile-long shopping
district filled with woolens, lace, and watches.
Enjoy the alpine view from the Schynegge
Platte. This afternoon, sail on a lake steamer
across Lake Brienz. In Brienz, visit the Jobin
Wood Carving School or take a ride on the
Rothorn steam train for a bird’s-eye view of
the lakes and mountains. Later, board a Swiss
Rail train back to Lauterbrunnen, then cog
rail up to Wengen.
Day 4 Grindelwald / The Eiger (B, D)
Ride the rails up to the Jungfraujoch Mountain.
Travel to a height of 11,133 feet through
a tunnel built in the mountain
Eiger. Then on to the village of Grindelwald via the cog railway. Continue on to “First” via the world’s longest cable car. During your afternoon in Grindelwald, visit the shops, or explore the garden-like cemetery. Then return to Wengen via the Mannlichenbahn cable car.
Day 5 Reichenbach Falls /
Schwarzwaldalp (B, D)
Visit Reichenbach Falls, where Sherlock
Holmes met his match in “Professor Moriarty.”
Travel to Grindelwald to board a Postal
Transport bus for an excursion over the
Grosse Scheidegg beneath hanging glaciers.
Visit Schwarzwaldalp, Reichen-bach Falls,
and Merrigen. Ride Swiss Rail along Lake
Brienz and back to Wengen.
Day 6 Lauterbrunnen Valley (B, D)
Today, board the cog rail for an excursion
to the glacier carved Lauterbrunnen Valley.
Board a PTT bus for Trummelbach Falls and
enjoy lunch at the lovely cafe. Continue to
Stechelberg to take the cable car to Murren.
Enjoy free time or take the cable car up to
the Schilthorn, a revolving restaurant at the
“top of the world.”
Day 7 Staubbachbankeli (B, D)
Join your vacation manager for a moderate
walk through alpine meadows and forests,
past brown cows with ringing bells to Staubbachbankeli
Overlook. This overlook of the
Lauterbrunnen Valley is a view you’ll never
forget. Enjoy lunch at Mary’s Café, only a
short distance away.
Day 8 Transfer to Zurich (B, D)
Descend from your paradise on the now
familiar cog rail train. Board your private
motorcoach and travel to Lucerne to see
the Lion’s Monument and the Kapellbrucke
Bridge. After free time, continue to Zurich
for the night. Tonight, gather for a Farewell
Dinner with your new travel friends.
Day 9 Zurich / Fly Home (B)
Coach to the Zurich airport and fly home.
