Join your Allied friends on a one day tour to Sioux City, Iowa. The Homestead Pickers are the highest rated attraction at Silver Dollar City.
Dressed in period costume the guys play instruments, crack jokes, sing and tell stories of both truth and myth about the Ozark way of life. From years of daily playing to crowds at the theme park, they know timing, spacing and impact. They quickly grab the interest of the audience, divert them from the ordinary and thoroughly amuse them with gusto.
Greg Bailey plays the fiddle, banjo, dobro and a half dozen other instruments. Greg Becker can be seen with a pennywhistle, squeezebox, or guitar. Danny Eakin, from Booger Holler, Arkansas is the ultimate in hillbilly entertainment. Steve Bush can play just about any instrument you give him – at lightening speed. When you combine their talents these guys are Grammy nominees, former band members with Miss Loretta Lynn, the infamous River Rats Dixieland Band and Paul Harris’ new show “The Cleverlys,” to name a few. One even “barks like a coondog.” Whatever it takes to excite and maintain the audiences’ interest these ole boys will do it. Music from Bluegrass to Irish, Americana, Mountain, Gospel, Country and beyond is heard.
In the Ozarks, folks still gather on front porches and in pickin’ sheds to socialize and entertain with their music. It’s similar to what us Midwesterners used to do at barn dances. This show projects that special kind of close, homey, warm and intimate interaction. It’s done with words, music and shenanigans. When the curtains close everybody will nod and agree that a lot of fun was just had. This showtime is 2-4 p.m.
