Fly non-stop to Washington, D.C., for a trip that will show you our nation’s capitol, inside and out. Meet your local, expert guide who will be with you throughout the day to provide history and narration of our nation’s capital. Begin with a tour of the National Archives and see the original documents of the Declaration of Independence, Constitution, and Bill of Rights! This afternoon, drive down Embassy Row to see the large, historic mansions along Massachusetts Avenue that have been claimed and restored by Embassies from around the world. Tour the Washington National Cathedral, the sixth largest church in the world. Check in later this afternoon to your Washington, D.C., area hotel and have a little time to “R & R” before having dinner with your fellow travel mates.

Day 2 U.S. Capitol Visitor’s Center & Tour / World War II, Vietnam, Lincoln, Korean War, & FDR Memorials / National Portrait Gallery (B, D)
This is your grand day of sightseeing in Washington, D.C. Your local, expert guide will, once again, be with you throughout the day to provide you with that valuable insight of our nation’s capital. Start off with the Capitol Visitor’s Center where you’ll see a film on the historical significance of our Capitol, along with a tour. You will also tour the beautiful Library of Congress. This afternoon is scheduled for you to visit, in person, all the memorials; National World War II, Vietnam, Lincoln, FDR, and Korean. Next, stop at the National Portrait Gallery which features a unique collection of portraits of famous Americans from the world of politics, sports, literature and stage, and includes the Hall of Presidents.

Day 3 Newseum / Free Afternoon and Evening to Explore the Smithsonian of Your Choice (B)

This morning, visit the Newseum, the only interactive museum of news. Then, you’ll have the afternoon to explore the Smithsonian Museum of your choice.

Day 4: Mt. Vernon / National Museum of the Marine Corps / Air Force Memorial / Pentagon Memorial / Union Station / Illumination Tour (B, L)
Escape the 21st century today when you visit George Washington’s Mt. Vernon estate. The new Ford Orientation Center and Museum offers visitors the chance to experience Washington’s life through movies and exhibitions. Explore his mansion filled with 18th century treasures, stroll the gardens of the 45-acre estate, and take in the views of the Potomac River from the mansion’s piazza. Visit the National Museum of the Marine Corps at Quantico. Stand astride the famed “yellow footprints” and hear the roar of your first dreaded drill instructor issuing commands. Then, take time to have dinner in the beautifully renovated Union Station with its beaux-arts design. This evening your guide will take you on an illumination tour to see the memorials lit up at night. Take a walk through the Kennedy Center for Performing Arts for an incredible view of the Washington, D.C. area from the roof. Other stops will include the Jefferson Memorial, and a drive by of the Marine Corps Memorial, Washington, White House, Air Force Memorial, Pentagon Memorial, and the U.S. Capitol.

Day 5 Udvar-Hazy Smithsonian Air Museum / Arlington National Cemetery / Travel Home (B)
This morning, visit the Smithsonian Institution’s Steven Udvar-Hazy National Air & Space Museum. There are over 335 air and space craft on display, including the Space Shuttle Enterprise, the B-17 Flying Fortress, and the Enola Gay. Next, tour Arlington National Cemetery including the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and the famous “Changing of the Guard.” This evening, catch your non-stop flight home recalling all the wonderful sights of our nation’s capitol knowing that you’ve seen it “inside and out.”
