Day 1 Travel Day (D)
It’s time to journey north to the beautiful
Canadian Rockies! A time change to
Mountain Time gives us time to drive thru
the South Dakota Badlands. A casual dinner
and comfortable hotel await us in Rapid
City, SD.
Day 2 Devils Tower / Little Big Horn
National Monument (CB, D)
We cross into Wyoming this morning for a
visit to Devils Tower, where we see the Circle
of Sacred Smoke Sculpture and exhibits at
the Visitor Center. Western history comes
to life at the Little Big Horn Battlefield National
Monument. A light dinner is included
at the Trading Post Café before we journey
on to Billings for overnight.
Day 3 Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center (CB)
Our travel takes us north thru Lewis &
Clark National Forest to Great Falls. We
arrive in time to visit the Lewis & Clark
Interpretive Center where we learn about
the vision, challenges and daily life of this
historic expedition.
Day 4 Calgary Stampede / Grandstand Show (CB, D)
Continuing north, we cross the border into
Canada. PASSPORT REQUIRED. Our
mid-afternoon arrival into Calgary gives us
time to check in to our hotel before visiting
the Calgary Stampede for the Chuckwagon
Races and Grandstand Show featuring the
Young Canadians. We begin with a buffet
dinner featuring Alberta Beef. If you have
not seen Chuckwagon Races before, get
ready for a fun, truly western experience.
The races are a favorite for Alberta natives
and are a culmination of summer-long of
racing. The Stampede has the largest payout
of all the competitions: over $1.15 million
in prize money. The 2012 Grandstand Show
will showcase amazing local and international
talent of dancers, singers and more!
Day 5 Calgary Tower / Heritage Park / Banff
Gondola to Sulphur Mountain (B)
We begin our day in Calgary with a ride
to the top of Calgary Tower for spectacular
views of the city. Enjoy a stop at Heritage
Park: Canada’s largest living history museum.
On the Historic Village Tour, we step
back in time to the days of the Pioneers. Be sure to stop in the Gasoline Alley Museum to
see the vintage cars and old gasoline pumps.
This afternoon we
begin our climb into the Canadian Rockies. We round out our touring today at the Banff Gondola for a ride to the top of Sulphur Mountain for a spectacular view of six mountain ranges.
Day 7 Icefields Parkway / Lake ouise / Columbia Icefield Snowcoach (B)
This morning enjoy a scenic drive along the
Icefields Parkway on the way to Lake Louise.
Take a walk around this gorgeous lake and
relax at the world famous Chateau Lake Louise
where we have lunch. Then we are off to
the Columbia Icefields to take part in an Ice
Explorer Ride: the best way to get up close
to the glaciers! Later we check into our Jasper
hotel for a free evening and overnight.
Day 7 Maligne Lake Cruise (B)
Enjoy more scenic sights this morning on
our way to Maligne Lake. No landmark so
perfectly captures the Canadian Rockies like
world famous Maligne Lake and Spirit Island
in Jasper National Park. The 90 minute scenic
cruise has been crowned “The Best Boat Tour
in Canada” by 8 million Reader’s Digest Subscribers.
Return to Jasper for leisure time.
Day 8 Travel Day (B)
Sit back and take in your last views of the
Canadian Rockies as we depart this morning.
We travel back to Calgary and cross the plains
to Medicine Hat, Alberta for overnight.
Day 9 Moose Jaw Tunnels / RCMP Heritage Center (CB)
Continuing east, we visit the Moose Jaw Tunnels,
famous hideout of Al Capone. Arrive in
Regina this afternoon for a visit to the Royal
Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) Heritage
Center. Learn the story of the RCMP from
its beginning, over 136 years ago, to present
day. Overnight in Regina.
Day 10 International Peace Gardens (CB, D)
It’s time to turn the coach south and cross back
into the United States. Take time to stretch
your legs at the International Peace Gardens.
We continue on to Grand Forks, ND for a
“Farewell” Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 11 Travel Home (CB)
It’s time to end our journey as we return
home after a beautiful tour to the majestic Canadian Rockies
